COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to give each participant the necessary skills to safely instruct and conduct firearms training and function as a firearms instructor. This will be achieved through instruction, demonstration, and practical exercises.

COURSE COST: $550.00
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The goal of this course is to give each participant necessary skills to safely instruct and conduct firearms training and function as a firearms instructor for their agency and/or company. In order to achieve this goal, the following objectives need to be completed.
• The student will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of all aspects of firearms safety. They will also demonstrate that they can safely handle the firearms they are providing instruction on.
• The student will demonstrate their marksmanship ability with each firearm they provide instruction on.
• The student will demonstrate their ability to handle firearms by passing a practical and shooting evaluation.
• The student will demonstrate the ability to develop and teach firearms skills with attention to safety in handling and operation.
• The student will demonstrate the ability to safely operate a firing range with the use of range safety officers.
• The student will be familiar with the court decisions affecting the training and liability regarding firearms training.
• The student will be familiar with preparing for and giving testimony in court regarding their duties as firearms instructors.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
• Proof of law enforcement, military, or private security status or handgun permit.
• Attendance will be required to successfully complete the course.
• The student will pass a practical evaluation of their ability to teach in the classroom.
• The student will be evaluated on their ability to conduct live fire range operations.
• The student will be required to pass a firearms qualification course on each firearm they will be teaching.
• They will be tasked to prepare a lesson plan, course of fire or shooting drill.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Robert “Bob” Allen
Bob Allen was a Metro Police officer for thirty-five years and twenty-three of those years he was the supervisor and lead firearms instructor at MNPD Training Academy. He is currently the Director of Training for Royal Range USA and indoor shooting range and training facility. He has instructed firearms training to civilian, military and police on a weekly basis for the past six years at RR. Bob has attended and passed numerous firearms instructor schools from Glock, FBI, Rangemaster, NRA only to name a few. Bob has over 17,000 hours of instructing firearms to officers and civilians across the United States. He was a SWAT Team member and instructor of firearms for 22 years at the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Greg Lee
Greg is a 33 - year veteran law enforcement officer and firearms instructor. He is retired from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, serving the last 9 years at the Police Academy as a Firearms Instructor, Range Master and Armorer. He is also a retired Master Sergeant from the United Stated Air Force – Tennessee Air National Guard with almost twenty-five years of service as a Law Enforcement Specialist, Combat Arms Training and Maintenance Instructor and Supervisor. He has provided Firearms and Armorers training at several international training conferences and to law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. He currently teaches law enforcement firearms and armorers training for Royal Range USA and Ballistic Edge Specialized Training, LLC.
EQUIPMENT:
-Duty Pistol with 3 spare magazines. Holster and magazine pouches.
-Belt capable of holding equipment.
-Back-up firearms with holster and spare loading devices.
-Patrol Rifle with 3 spare magazines, sling, and magazine pouches.
-Eye and ear protection (doubling up with plugs is encouraged but not required)
-Primary and back-up flashlights (bring spare batteries)
-Clothing appropriate for the range.
-Body Armor if required by your agency.
-Sharpie Pen (Black), Ink Pen and note taking materials.
-Laptop computer if one is available, printers will be available for students to print from.
-Cleaning kit for your firearms.
Note: This course will require movement and getting into and out of different positions. If you need elbow or knee pads or any other type of appliance, please bring it with you.
Ammunition:
800 rounds for duty pistol
50 rounds of ammunition for back up firearm (if different from duty pistol caliber)
100 rounds of .38 Special practice ammunition (Loaner Revolvers will be available)
250 rounds of 5.56mm for patrol rifle
