Security Training-Use of Force & Qualification

EXPANDABLE BATON/ PEPPER SPRAY/ Handcuff/ Medical/ De-escalation

The expandable Baton class will cover the nomenclature of the baton, opening and closing techniques, how to stand, how to hold the baton. How and where to strike with the baton. Striking areas that are not approved. Including practical striking drills, situational striking drills, legal information on using force.

Pepper Spray class will cover the following topics:

  • Nomenclature of the spray canister

  • How to hold the canister

  • Spray patterns

  • De-contamination techniques

  • Legal Considerations

  • How to carry the canister

  • What to do after you have sprayed an individual

  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of technique

Handcuff class will cover the following:

  • Parts of handcuffs and placement on duty belt

  • Various handcuffing techniques from standing and prone positions

  • Speed Cuffing, FBI Technique, Interlocked Quick Handcuffing, & Twist Lock Handcuffing

  • Suspect body search

  • Ground Fighting Position

  • Distraction Strikes

  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of technique

  • Each Student needs duty belt, handcuffs, and a handcuff key

  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of technique

Medical class will cover the following:

  • CPR

  • AED

  • Stop the bleed

  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of technique

De-escalation Lecture will cover the following:

  • Why De-escalation

  • Signs of Agitation

  • The physical stance

  • Non-Verbal Techniques

  • Verbal Techniques

  • The de‐escalation discussion

  • Responsive Listening Skills

  • Ending De-escalation

  • Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of technique

These classes will be the same class Police Officers are instructed in.
