UNARMED DEFENSIVE TACTICS SERIES

Unarmed Defensive Tactics Series will mentor the Citizen through the process of learning to protect one’s self when weapons are not available or an option to carry. Having a robust set of fighting skills is crucial to a well-rounded protective system. Our experienced coaches will help you build a system around you and your individual traits. This three-part series will break down the various ranges of unarmed protection and give you an intuitive, synergistic system that will augment any previous skills learned or lay a solid foundation if you are new to defensive tactics. All coursework in this series blends and compliments all curriculum that Royal Range USA Training Academy teaches. 

No previous martial arts or combatives training is necessary to participate in this coursework. 

Coursework in this series will be conducted every other week, with off class weeks being filled with a night of practice, allowing the Citizen the practice time to solidify previously learned skills 

Note – All coursework in this series is moderately, physically demanding. Please inform your Coach if you have any medical conditions or physical limitations. Medical conditions or limitations do not preclude you from this coursework, we will develop your individual system around you and your abilities.

UNARMED DEFENSIVE TACTICS I

Unarmed Defensive Tactics I will introduce you to basic Boxing skills. This course will teach closed and open hand strikes and how they are applied in a protective role. Citizens will be initially be taught a proper fighting stance and default protective positions to keep you in the fight and on your feet, should you be surprised, or a roundhouse style strike is thrown at you. From this position you will be instructed on the basics of upper body striking, combinations, angles and their importance, footwork, and movement. All of this will be coupled with proper mindset, situational awareness, and protective spirit.

UNARMED DEFENSIVE TACTICS II

Unarmed Defensive Tactics II will introduce you to basic Low-Line Kicking skills. Picking up where UDT I left off, proper fighting stance and movement will be reviewed, with additional skill sets being added into this complete system. Kicking and strikes below the waistline will be the focus of this block of instruction. Integration of upper body striking, with lowline kicking will be discussed and how they work in unison. Integration of elbow and knee strikes will be taught and mentored as the proximity between combatants is shortened. All the while continuing to cultivate an aggressive, fighting mindset and robust protective system.

UNARMED DEFENSIVE TACTICS III

Unarmed Defensive Tactics III rounds out this comprehensive series and introduces you to the transitional range from striking into the realm of fighting in the clinch coupled with basic wrestling skills. With the very real possibility of multiple assailants, the ability to remain upright and fighting, works to your protective advantage. Learn how to stay upright and on your feet, while learning basic techniques to remove your opponent from theirs. Coaches will mentor you through these combative wrestling techniques and how to protect against someone trying to apply them to you. UDT III will mentor you into flow in and out of the multiple ranges that you may encounter in a street altercation.
